This Privacy Policy explains how Colonauts (Chinese title: 星塵殖民) handles your information. It covers the Android app (package name com.lemonrainstudio.colonauts), the web version at colonauts.lemonrainstudio.com (and its older address on workers.dev), and this website, lemonrainstudio.com.

1. Who we are

Colonauts is made by Lemon Rain Studio, a one-person independent game developer based in Taiwan. For any privacy question or request, contact us at hello@lemonrainstudio.com (see section 11).

2. Information stored on your device

To let you continue where you left off, the game saves the following locally on your device:

• your current run (the colony you are playing);
• long-term progress, such as stardust, upgrades you have bought and wins;
• your settings, such as volume and language;
• whether the full version is unlocked on this device (a local copy of your purchase status).

On Android this data is kept in the app’s private storage. It is excluded from Android device backups and is deleted when you uninstall the app. In the web version it is kept in your browser’s storage (IndexedDB) for the game’s website. This data is never sent to us or to anyone else.

3. Information we collect

We do not collect personal information through the game. Specifically, Colonauts:

• has no user accounts and no sign-in;
• does not show ads and does not use an advertising ID;
• does not include analytics, crash-reporting or tracking tools;
• does not access your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or other files;
• does not request any Android permission of its own. The only permissions in the app (internet access, network state and Google Play billing) are added by Google’s Play Billing Library so that purchases can talk to Google Play;
• does not set cookies, and neither does this website.

4. Purchases (Android)

The Android app offers a one-time in-app purchase that unlocks the full version. Payments are processed by Google Play under Google’s own terms and privacy policy. We never receive your credit card number, bank details or other payment information.

To unlock, restore or (after a refund) re-lock the full version, the app asks Google Play, directly from your device, whether your Google account owns the unlock. The result is kept only on your device.

As the seller, Google gives us limited order records in the Google Play Console (for example order number, date, product, price and country or region). We use them only for accounting, tax, refunds and answering your support requests, and keep them as long as tax and accounting laws require.

The web version has no payments. Its “unlock” button simply opens the Colonauts page on Google Play.

5. Website and web-version hosting (Cloudflare)

This website and the web version of Colonauts are hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web server, when your browser requests a page or game file, Cloudflare processes technical information needed to deliver it and to protect the service from abuse, such as your IP address, browser type (user agent), the address requested and the time. This may appear briefly in server logs that we can view to fix problems. These logs are kept only for a short period (a few days) and then deleted automatically. We do not use them to identify you, track you or for advertising.

Our legal basis for this processing, where the GDPR or similar laws apply, is our legitimate interest in running a secure and working website.

6. Third-party services

We do not use any other third-party services, SDKs or advertising networks in Colonauts.

7. How we keep your information safe

Your game data never leaves your device, so it cannot be exposed on our side. Our websites are served only over encrypted HTTPS connections, and purchases are handled through Google Play’s secure billing system.

8. Keeping and deleting your data

Because your progress is stored only on your device, you are in full control of it:

• Android: uninstall Colonauts, or go to Settings → Apps → Colonauts → Storage → Clear data.
• Web: clear the site data for colonauts.lemonrainstudio.com (and the older workers.dev address, if you played there) in your browser’s settings.

Deleting this data permanently erases your progress; we cannot recover it for you. Your full-version purchase is tied to your Google account, not to this data, so you can get it back with Restore Purchase in the game or by reinstalling from Google Play.

We have no account for you to delete and no game data about you on any server. Cloudflare’s short-lived server logs are deleted automatically. If you have questions about any other data, contact us.

9. Children

Colonauts is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information (for example by email), contact us and we will delete it.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under Taiwan’s Personal Data Protection Act, the EU/UK GDPR or California law), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to object to its use. Since we do not hold personal information about you through the game, most requests can be met by deleting the data on your device as described above. For anything else, email us and we will reply within 30 days.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change how Colonauts handles information, for example by adding optional cloud saves, we will update this page and its “Last updated” date before the change is released, and describe important changes in the game or on its store page.
